Come Paleo With Me ~ One Week To Start Date

Updated: May 30

With only one week to go before our “Come Paleo with Me” Challenge begins on 1st June, 2020, it is time to start preparing yourself for a life-changing journey to improve your health and wellbeing with the guidance of a qualified Functional Medicine and Holistic Integrative Medical Practitioner.

Dr Akua Agyeman and the AIMHI Team are excited to guide you through this seemingly overwhelming task, and are here to show you that in fact these changes are possible, and simpler than you may think.

Our aim is to keep the changes simple and manageable, both for your budget and daily schedule. We will provide an extensive range of health food information, suggested recipes, ideas and inspiration.

We are not replicating the "Old Stone Age" Paleolithic-man eating regime, as we are not living in that era now. We are taking the basic, whole food and health principles that have proven to contribute to a healthy lifestyle, and be as nutritious as the Paleolithic man’s.

Some key tips for your preparation include:

  •  Getting some sun (Vitamin D). Remember to wear a hat and suitable sun protection

  •  Plan enough sleep - create a calming routine to help you relax and settle in for an early night (the Paleolithic man did not have a phone, or TV and went to bed when the sun went down). It is helpful to stop using screens 1 hour before bed, and reduce any blue light. Again, it is impossible to live exactly like the Paleolithic man, but we can aim to stick to a routine of going to bed around 8-10pm (for adults) and disconnecting from our devices an hour before then. Use a warm, yellow lamp if you choose to read before bed.

  •  Exercise: yoga, walking, jogging, local gym, home gym or with a local walking group; morning or evening, plan what works for you. Exercise at different times and see what suits you best.

  •  Eat more plant-based foods and start reducing your sugar and processed food intake. This includes caffeine, alcohol, carbonated drinks and fast, pre-packaged junk food.

  •  Start drinking more water (filtered is preferable) and get into a routine of drinking up to 8 glasses (2L) per day. Buy a fun, reusable bottle as it may motivate you to drink more. There are also fun and engaging Apps to remind you to drink water throughout the day. (we will share more health tips throughout the Challenge)

  •  Start preparing more food at home so you can get used to the idea of cooking your own food.

Remember, you don’t have to do this alone. We will provide a weekly meal plan with suggested recipes and multiple options, and adaptations, along with a Weekly Shopping List. You will have many choices for each meal, You will be able to choose what works best for you.
